THE REGISTRY UNIT

It is worthy of note that, Babcock University Secondary School has made tremendous progress since its inception in May , 2013. The Registrar’s Office is responsible for registration support and maintenance of student records, including:

  • Admission
  • Communication
  • Subject scheduling
  • Grade reporting
  • Final examinations scheduled and administered by the Registrar’s Office
  • Graduation
  • Students’ calendar

The Registrar’s Office is committed to:

Managing the timely admission of applicants to all student programs
Producing and maintaining accurate student records on which the school’s grant claim is based
Managing classroom space
Creating class schedules that support the multi-disciplinary character of the curriculum and the interests of students
Creating the examination timetable and administering final examinations

Admission Policy:

The school welcomes applications from prospective students regardless of race, religion, colour or sex; people whose principles and interests are in harmony with the ideals and traditions of the school as expressed in its policies, objectives and culture. Admission into the school is however a privilege not a right and may be withheld or withdrawn by the school at its discretion in harmony with its mission purpose.

External Examinations:

The school is currently positioned to prepare students for four external examinations. The students at the Junior school are expected to write the State Junior Certificate Examination (BECE) and National Examinations Council (BECE) comprising of eleven subjects at the end of three years.

Key Responsibilities:

The school is also working out modalities on how other examinations such as GMAT and SAT could be integrated into the school’s academic program. We also have a program that helps produce successful candidates at the Unified Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board Examinations. This will also serve as a community outreach program.

All our students take courses in the Adventist Youth Ministries (AYM), this serves as our general course (GSS). AYM (Adventist Youth Ministry) is a subject that is compulsory for every student in our school. It is targeted at enriching the spiritual lives of our students irrespective of denomination, religion and gender. This has been yielding testimonies in the life of our students EVEN AFTER GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

The School Registry is responsible for ensuring that admission processes into Babcock University Secondary School at all ages are administered efficiently, with due regard to the legal process. We maintain a constant turnaround of student expressions of interest, applications and interviews throughout the year. The School Registry will play a key part in the planning, preparation and execution of key admissions-related public events, such as Open Day, other exhibition events and Visiting Days. We provide regular updates to the Senior Management Team onboarding and day applications. The School Registry has a high level of accountability with the key measures of success being measured against the number of new inquiries generated, the number of parent visits and registrations and the flow of students between the individual year groups.

Managing and co-coordinating all aspects of registry and admissions work throughout the School, using sales skills to progress each applicant to the next stage through to securing enrolment. Together with the Admissions Team, being responsible for ensuring that we meet our objectives in terms of the number and the calibre of new students at all entry points each year. Maintaining and building relationships with other schools, educational consultants, agents and international schools with regular communication by phone, email or in person.

The Registrar’s Office engages with Babcock University Secondary School students at every stage in their journey from prospect to alumni. We are a mission-critical support organization that materially facilitates the mandate of the school; we identify, nurture, support, and celebrate with our leaders of today and tomorrow. This document aligns with the school’s strategic plan and describes our mission and goals for the next year. We intend to champion specific initiatives within our mandate and collaborate with campus partners as we define a distinctive future together.
